The Cat In The Hat Craft Ideas:

    Have you tried out invitations?

Basically, an ‘invitation to play’ is where you set up a space with various materials and invite a child to enter the space and use their imagination with the materials.

Decorate A Hat Invitation to Play

For this invitation you need this template and a tray with various age-appropriate materials

    Materials Ideas:

    • Crayons/markers/colored pencils/gel pens
    • Pompoms
    • Stickers
    • Cut down pipe cleaners
    • Construction paper with scissors or paper punches
    • Glitter
    • Glitter glue
    • Tissue paper

Older kids you can allow to use glue sticks or glue bottles.

Toddlers you can add glue to their paper or give them a small cup with glue in the bottom and a q-tip to add their own glue

Sometimes the best fun is to see what little minds will come up with.

Cat In The Hat Paper Plate

I go back to this project every year. It is so fun and so cute to see those little faces as The Cat in the Hat. This project will require more work from you depending on the ages of children you are working with, but it’s a goodie!!

The Cat In The Hat Patterns Activity:

This is a great activity for your little and bigs. Always make sure your young toddlers are present for your activities whether they are able to properly do the activity or not. Hands on learning is so important and you would be surprised how much they absorb and how quickly they catch on.

    • Glue (optional)

    Directions:

    1. Cut your red and white paper in strips approximately 1.5 inches by 6 inches
    2. Alternate the red/white pattern on the black paper to make the Cat in the Hat’s stripped hat
    3. (optional) Have the child glue down their pattern for another project to take home

    • What is a pattern?
    • Can you show me a pattern on the cover of this book?
    • What colors are the pattern?
    • How many red papers did you use?
    • How many white papers did you use?
    • Can you tell me your pattern?

      • How many blocks can you stack before it tips over
    • This is a great grasping activity for young toddlers

      • Figuring out how to stack the Lego
      • Do not concentrate on the pattern with a young toddler, just the action
