Green Deviled Eggs
There are so many ways people can make deviled eggs. I am sure you have your tried-and-true recipe and here is mine if you need a quick recipe.
Ingredients:
- Hard boiled Eggs -really depends on how many children you are making for, we will make 6 to get 12 halves
- 3 tablespoons of Miracle whip
- I prefer miracle whip to mayo for this recipe but mayo would work as well
- Green food dye -I used 3 drops
Directions:
- Assuming you have pre-boiled your eggs start by pealing all your eggs and cutting them in half lengthwise
- Unless I am making a ton of boiled eggs, I love using one of these awesome appliances
- Put all your yokes in a bowl and smash them with a fork
- Add your miracle whip
- Feel free to add more or less depending on your taste
- Add a couple drops of green good coloring and mix
- Spoon a scoop of your green yoke into your egg half
- You could also pipe it in by putting the yoke mixture into a plastic sandwich bag and snip the corner then squeeze into your egg half.
- You can also add a squirt of mustard (but for kiddos sometimes it’s best to keep it simple)
That’s it! Quick and simple green deviled eggs.
Add a fruit or vegetable and milk for CACFP providers.

Green Eggs and Ham Sensory Bin
Sensory bins are an incredibly versatile tool in the playtime arsenal, offering endless hours of tactile fun while stimulating little ones’ senses and fostering their creativity. They are the perfect canvas for imaginative play, and the best part is that they can be as simple or as elaborate as you wish.
Creating a sensory bin doesn’t need to be expensive. Often, the most engaging bins are those that are thoughtfully put together with items that are readily available at home. Children have the wonderful ability to see potential in the most ordinary of objects with the power of their imagination.
Here is a guide to get you started:
What do we need:
- Container with sides
- White rice or pasta
- Gallon size ziplock bag
- Green paint
- Parchment paper
- Template printable
- Cardboard
- Play kitchen items -pans, spatulas
- Utensils like tongs and scoops
- Small bowls
- Small funnels
Directions to color rice:
There are many ways to color your filler but I like to keep it super simple.
If you’re more of a visual person, here’s a quick video on how I color rice for sensory bins!
- Add a couple cups of white rice or pasta to your gallon size zip lock bag
- Add a few squirts of paint to the bag and seal it
- Shake the bag up until all the rice or pasta is coated
- Pour the rice or pasta on a piece of parchment paper and let dry
Putting it all together:
After you cut out your green eggs and ham from the template, you could laminate the pieces, or you could glue them to a thick piece of cardboard. This way they are easier to use with a spatula.
Once your rice or pasta is dry, add everything to your container and let your children check it out. I recommend setting it in front of them with no prompts.
Remember, there’s no wrong way to build a sensory bin. Whether you’re using the same items listed here or substituting with what you can find, the key is to allow your kids to explore and enjoy the sensory experience in their own way.
**This can be a messy activity. Keep a broom close by.
